Amazon launches Echo voice-controlled speaker and Alexa assistant in the UK: Samuel Gibbs at The Guardian reports that Amazon is releasing its wireless, voice-controlled speaker, the Echo, in the UK and Germany, along with its Alexa personal assistant. The Echo is a Wi-Fi speaker that users speak questions, commands and playback requests to, with Alexa – Amazon’s challenger to Apple’s Siri, Google’s Now and Microsoft’s Cortana – replying in kind, only now in a British accent. Morrisons to install over 1,000 Amazon collection lockers: John Glenday at The Drum reports that Morrisons and Amazon have agreed an ambitious collaboration programme which will see the supermarket chain install over 1,000 Amazon pick-up lockers in locations such as shopping centres, convenience stores, airports, train stations, and universities. Each secure drop off point will provide online purchasers with a convenient point to pick up their goods, saving the need to wait in on the postman during the working day. Continue reading…
Lucid launch FeedbackExpress for Amazon merchants with free trial: Chris Dawson at Tamebay reports that Lucid Interactive has announced the release of a new automated Amazon feedback software, FeedbackExpress. FeedbackExpress is a cloud-based solution to help Amazon sellers automate and manage their feedback communication with buyers. The software aims to help sellers get more positive feedback and product reviews as well as removing any negative and neutral feedback quickly and effectively. Sainsbury’s welcome eBay shoppers in store: Chris Dawson at Tamebay reports that Sainsbury’s are going ahead to expand and grow eBay’s Click and Collect at Argos, with the launch of 200 newly-designed digital Click & Collect points in stores across the UK. The digital collection points for Argos’ exclusive Click & Collect partnership eBay will launch in Sainsbury’s Click & Collect stores. Customers will be able to pick up their Tu clothing, eBay and DPD parcel deliveries from Sainsbury’s stores and 30 Sainsbury’s Click & Collect points will also offer Argos online collection. Exploring mobile’s role in eCommerce marketing: Sjiju Mathew at Marketing Tech reports that sales from mobile commerce in American markets grew from $75bn to $104bn last year, a 38.7% increase. And this number is expected to hit the $350bn mark in 2016. A study by Internet Retailer suggests that although the absolute number of users is lesser than the United States, Asian markets experienced a staggering 240% growth in their mobile commerce in 2015, which was six times the growth rate in the US, the European markets saw a growth of 71% from the previous year, and Latin American markets saw a spike rate of 60%.
