Amazon captured 31% of online spending over Cyber Weekend: Krystina Gustafson at CNBC reports that Target, Wal-Mart and Kohl’s each broke online records over the five-day shopping extravaganza that ended with Cyber Monday. According to new data by Slice Intelligence, which scanned more than 1 million online shopping receipts from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday, Amazon accounted for 30.9% of all sales, followed by Best Buy at 7.4%, Target at 4.4% and Wal-Mart at 4.1%. Amazon places cap on non-Amazon verified purchase reviews: Chris Dunne at FeedbackExpress reports Amazon is continuing its efforts to stop false feedback by announcing that buyers will only to be able to leave five reviews a week for items not bought via the online store. Amazon has said, “You can submit a maximum of five non-Amazon Verified Purchase reviews each week, starting on (a) Sunday. If we find unusually high numbers of reviews for a product posted in a short period of time, we may restrict these products to Amazon Verified Purchase reviews.” Continue reading…
UK Amazon marketplace sellers to reach £1.8 billion in exports sales: Ben Stevens at Retail Gazette reports that Amazon has announced that third-party sellers on Amazon UK are predicted to achieve export sales of more than £1.8 billion. Amazon also revealed that its marketplace arm has grown by 29% year-on-year. Retailers are now able to sell across all 11 Amazon sites in seven different languages with the launch of Amazon’s new fulfilment programme which has contributed to huge growth in pan-European sales.
