Amazon will now do your EU VAT returns: Dan Wilson at Tamebay reports that Amazon is now offering an online service called VAT Services on Amazon which will take care of your VAT returns. For €400 annually per territory, they’ll do the paperwork on all your Amazon sales and make sure you pay your dues. Amazon must refund $70 million of children’s ‘accidental’ purchases on parent’s accounts: Aatif Sulleyman at The Independent reports Amazon has agreed to refund $70 million worth of in-app purchases made by children without their parents’ knowledge or authorisation. The company was taken to court by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) back in 2014 for failing to clearly inform parents that apps that are free to download from its app store can still allow in-app purchases. eBay to launch “Guaranteed Delivery” in the US this summer: Chris Dawson at Tamebay reports that Guaranteed Delivery will be rolled on eBay in the US this summer with the aim of providing faster and more precise delivery dates for shoppers. eBay will guarantee delivery in three days or less on 20 million eligible items. Hal Lawton, Senior Vice President of North America at eBay said, “While the majority of items on eBay already ship within three days or less, as well as for free, Guaranteed Delivery will give shoppers even faster delivery options and the confidence that their items will arrive on time.” Continue reading…
SOUQ are joining the Amazon family: In a press release this week, SOUQ.com, the Middle East’s largest online retail and marketplace site announced they are joining the Amazon family. They describe the move “as a profound accomplishment” and the company has “always strived for the empowerment of our partners, our merchants, our team, local entrepreneurs and every person at SOUQ”. Amazon wants Cheerios, Oreos and other brands to bypass Wal-Mart: Spencer Soper at Bloomberg reports that Amazon has invited some of the world’s biggest brands to its Seattle headquarters in an audacious bid to persuade them that it’s time to start shipping products directly to online shoppers and bypass chains like Wal-Mart, Target and Costco.
