Amazon adds its own discounts to third-party seller products: Steve Dent at Engadget reports that Amazon is cutting the prices of third-party seller items at its own expense to be more competitive with other online sites. The items are labelled as “Discount provided by Amazon”. The discounts are less than 10 percent and appear to only be applied for sellers that use Amazon’s fulfilment service. Continue reading…
Amazon to discontinue Sponsored Product ads on the right rail: Tara Johnson at CPC Strategy reports that Amazon Sponsored Products Ads (located on the right rail only) are going away. The team was only able to produce right rail placements in incognito mode, but soon right-hand rail Sponsored Product ads will be a thing of the past. Donate to charity every time you shop with Amazon Smile: Andrew Hoyle at CNET reports that Amazon’s Smile service has arrived in the UK, allowing you to nominate a charity to receive a donation every time you make an Amazon purchase. When you visit smile.amazon.co.uk, instead of the regular Amazon URL, you’ll be asked to select a UK charity before browsing Amazon. Seth Rogen and Amazon reveal new original superhero series The Boys: Huw Fullerton at Radio Times reports that Amazon is teaming up with Preacher directors Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen to bring cult comic The Boys to screens. Set in a world where corrupt superheroes are obsessed with the sex and privilege their powers can give them, The Boys revolves around a scrappy group of CIA operatives aiming to monitor and take them down if necessary, often using little more than ill-gained super-strength and their wits.
