Amazon to Limit Product Titles to 200 Characters

Amazon announcement

In its latest attempt to improve the customer experience, Amazon Services Europe has said that all listings created after 6 April 2016 with title (aka Product Name) length of more than 200 characters (including white spaces) will be suppressed from search and browse. Customers will not be able to find these listings until the titles are shortened to less than 200 characters.

The product title limit has already been in place the on Amazon US marketplace since 15 July 2015.

Advice for Sellers from Amazon

1. Sellers should log into Seller Central and click on “Inventory Reports” under “Manage Inventory”.
2. Download the Listing Quality and Suppressed Listing Report, and filter the listings according to Product Name

Alternatively, they suggest,

1. Sellers should log into Seller Central and click on “Manage Inventory” under “Inventory”.
2. Click on “Suppressed ASINs”, then filter according to title.

Remember, these changes won’t be implemented by Amazon until 6 April 2016 so you have some time to identify and fix any affected listings.
