Amazon Prime Day inventory is due by June 27: Ina Steiner at EcommerceBytes reports that Amazon has told FBA sellers to make sure their products arrive at its fulfilment centres by June 27 in order to take advantage of this year’s Prime Day shopping event, though some sellers appeared sceptical that Amazon would be able to check in all third-party sellers’ inventory to its warehouses in time. Amazon’s Prime Day is reportedly July 15, according to leaked PR email: Joan Solsman at CNET reports that the official date for Prime Day has yet to be announced, but a leaked press release is reporting that it will be on July 15th this year. Human staff will always be needed, Amazon insists: Dave Lee at BBC News reports that Amazon’s warehouses will always need human staff, the firm’s chief robotics technologist has told the BBC. The company said it had deployed more than 200,000 warehouse robots working in around 50 of its locations. But despite Amazon investing heavily in advanced robotics, Tye Brady said the firm’s centres would never reach the point where they could be fully automated. Continue reading…

Amazon Restaurants in the US is shutting down: Sarah Perez at TechCrunch reports that following November’s closure of Amazon’s restaurant delivery business in London, the company is now shutting down operations in the US. The service, which was launched back in fall 2015, was designed to give Prime members another perk — a way to order meals, not just products and groceries — through the ecommerce giant. Morrisons and Amazon expanding same-day deliveries: BBC News reports that Morrisons and Amazon say they will expand their same-day delivery service for groceries to Glasgow, Newcastle, Liverpool, Sheffield and Portsmouth. Morrisons agreed to supply Amazon with groceries in 2016 and the service now includes delivery within the hour for some customers. So far shoppers in Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and some parts of London can use the same-day service. Continue reading…
