We hate to be the bearer of bad new but… Amazon have announced that they will be increasing fees for effective 18 Feb 2016 for US sellers who use Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA).
Here’s a copy of the email currently being sent out to sellers.
“Hello FBA seller:
We’re writing to notify you of next year’s changes to Fulfillment by Amazon fees in the U.S. As in previous years, we will be adjusting our rates to reflect the changing costs of storage, fulfillment, transportation, and customer service. To give you time to plan for these fee changes, they will not take effect until February 18, 2016, or later, after the holiday selling season.
We are introducing the following updates to our fees:
- Fulfillment Fees: Effective February 18, 2016, we will adjust our Pick & Pack and Weight Handling fees for most products’ sizes and weights. See details (or scroll to Fulfillment Fee schedules below).
- Monthly Inventory Storage Fee. Effective March 1, 2016, the monthly fee for inventory storage will be adjusted for Standard-Size and Oversize units. This change will first be reflected in April 2016 charges for storage that occurs in March 2016. See details (or scroll to the Monthly Inventory Storage Fee schedule below).
For complete details of the fee changes, visit https://www.amazon.com/fba-fee-changes. The following fee schedules show the current and new FBA fees and the dates they take effect:
Fees for Order Handling, Zero-Fee Fulfillment, Long-Term Storage, and FBA Prep Services are not affected by this change and will continue to apply where applicable. Multi-Channel Fulfillment fees will not change at this time.
We remain dedicated to providing high value to our sellers. Here’s a look at some of the improvements to FBA in 2015:
- Prime FREE Same-Day Delivery: Prime members in more than 750 cities and towns across 16 metro areas now can receive FREE Same-Day Delivery on qualifying orders over $35. Unlimited Free Two-Day Shipping continues to be available to U.S. Prime members on more than 20 million items across all product categories.
- Prime Day: On July 15, 2015, FBA sellers enjoyed record-breaking unit sales that grew 300% worldwide during this global event. More new members used Prime worldwide than on any single day in Amazon history.
- Inventory Planning tools: In Seller Central, we’ve provided new opportunities to improve inventory performance. Learn more at the Inventory Dashboard (sign-in required).
- FBA Small and Light: Earlier this year, FBA launched a lower-fee solution to help you fulfill small, lightweight items. The program provides customers FREE Standard Shipping for orders of eligible products with no minimum-order requirements.
