Amazon rated America’s most reputable company for third straight year: Monica Nickelsburg at GeekWire reports that despite some negative press, Amazon has ranked number one in the US for reputation for the third year in a row. The Reputation Institute’s annual report collected ratings from more than 83,000 Americans in areas including product/services, innovation, workplace culture, governance, corporate citizenship, leadership and financial performance. Amazon plans two-hour delivery in Berlin: Ecommerce News reports this week that according to the German newspaper Welt, Berlin may be the second city in Europe where Amazon delivers goods within two hours after an order has been placed. Amazon already offers the two-hour delivery service in London. On behalf of Amazon, a commercial building on Berlin’s Kurfürstendamm has been re-purposed as a warehouse for more than 10,000 items from Amazon’s huge inventory. Continue reading…
Amazon plans drones with talking propellers: Simon Sharwood at The Register reports that Amazon has filed a fascinating patent for automated aerial vehicle (AAV) technology—counter-rotating propellers to cancel noise, simulate speech or flash lights to warn of landing. The invention has two aspects: the use of multiple propellers rotating in different directions to reduce noise and the use of propellers to communicate with people on the ground in two ways. Google’s Android Pay is coming to the UK “in the next few months”: Chris Welch at The Verge reports that Google has just announced that Android Pay is coming to the UK “in the next few months”. Android Pay will include with support for MasterCard and Visa cards from partners including the Bank of Scotland, First Direct, Halifax, HSBC, Lloyds Bank, M&S Bank, MBNA, and Nationwide Building Society. eBay launch assisted selling with Stuff U Sell: Chris Dawson at Tamebay reports that eBay have launched a new Assisted Selling Pilot to help consumers cash in and sell with an absolute minimum of effort. eBay’s research shows that the average UK house has up to £4,000 worth of unwanted sell-able items but they know that many people are short of time. eBay are working on the pilot with a trusted seller and the pilot is expected to run for the next six weeks.
