Amazon’s novel idea—Physical bookstores: Carrie Mihalcik and Ben Fox Rubin at CNET report that Amazon, who traditionally wanted to keep you at home are now trying to get you out of your home to visit one of its 400 bookstores in locations across the US. Creating a chain of bookstores would be an unexpected move for Amazon, who started as an online book catalogue two decades ago with the promise of offering a wider selection and greater convenience than brick-and-mortar stores. Amazon likely working on Spotify-like music streaming service: Matt Hickey at Forbes reports that The New York Post claims that Amazon is ready to throw its hat into streaming and compete with Apple Music and Spotify. Amazon executives met with top-level music executives to try to hammer out a deal on par with what the other full-on streaming services offer. Amazon.com FBA Bulk Fee Calculator: Chris Dawson at Tamebay reports that that the guys at DNA Response have created an Amazon (FBA) Fee Bulk Calculator, which takes into account Amazon.com FBA fee and storage fee changes for 2016. The tool will be valuable for third-party Amazon sellers who need to process through a spreadsheet of hundreds of products and quickly evaluate which ones are profitable on Amazon. Continue reading…
Ecommerce in France was worth €65 billion in 2015: Ecommerce News reports that commerce in France was worth 64.9 billion euros in 2015 and could reach 70 billion euro this year. Total sales of the online retail industry increased by 14.3% last year, compared to sales in 2014, when sales increased by 11% compare to the year before. CPG ecommerce sales soared 42% last year, fuelled by Amazon: Jack Neff at Advertising Age reports on a 42% increase in CPG goods last year, with overall growth driven heavily by Amazon subscription sales, which more than tripled, according to data analytics firm 1010data. The fastest-growing CPG ecommerce category was laundry detergent, with sales up 85% last year. Procter & Gamble Co.’s Tide leads with a 48% share. Continue reading…
