Amazon voted best for customer satisfaction: Chris Dawson at Tamebay reports Amazon have been named the top company in the UK for customer satisfaction. The report by the Institute of Customer Service ranked them ahead of Wilko, who were ranked 45th last year. Last year’s number one company, First Direct, dropped to 7th position in this year’s ranking. Amazon’s improved position means customer satisfaction level has risen for the third consecutive year. Walmart wants to acquire Jet.com: Chris Dawson at Tamebay reports Walmart, the biggest bricks and mortar retailer in the world, is in talks to buy Jet.com according to the Wall Street Journal. Acquiring Jet would extend Walmart’s capabilities and give them an easier run at cutting a chunk out of Amazon’s business. Jet was set up to compete with Amazon in 2014 and was launched in 2015, and already has 3.6 million customers with a turnover of a billion dollars. Continue reading…
Amazon plans headphones that know when someone says your name: Olivia Solon at The Guardian reports that Amazon has outlined plans for noise cancelling headphones that come equipped with microphones that listen to the outside world. Amazon has been awarded a patent for its design that would analyse the incoming noise and listen for specific trigger words, phrases or sounds. Continue reading…
Amazon told to clarify ‘misleading’ delivery charges after complaint: The Press Association via The Guardian report that Amazon has been ordered to clarify its delivery charges for individual products after the advertising watchdog found it had been misleading customers. The Advertising Standards Authority found a lack of clarity about items eligible for free delivery after a shopper complained about charges for an Amazon Basics electrical product. Continue reading…
