Amazon’s second Prime Day was pretty ¯\_(ツ)_/¯: Davey Alba at Wired reports that Amazon claims its second annual Prime Day was its biggest sales day ever, with a 60% increase worldwide and 50% in the US, compared to Amazon Prime Day 2015. Amazon said third-party sellers saw orders nearly triple year-on-year. But the company did not provide Prime Day’s total sales, making it hard to know exactly how successful it was.
eBay to acquire SalesPredict price analytics company: Chris Dawson at Tamebay reports that eBay are set to acquire SalesPredict, an Israel-based company that leverages advanced analytics to predict customer buying behaviour and sales conversion. SalesPredict is eBay’s latest acquisition that will support its artificial intelligence, machine learning and data science efforts and follows eBay’s acquisition of Expertmaker earlier this year. Amazon is set to give its workers treehouses in the office as it builds futuristic new biodomes: Chris Kitching at The Daily Mail reports Amazon is set to build treehouses for employees at its Seattle headquarters. The treehouses will be linked by suspension bridges inside three transparent, conjoined spheres. Employees will be able to hold meetings in the tree canopy or discuss ideas in rooms with walls made from vines. Continue reading…
Amazon tests personalised video ads: Leo Kelion at BBC News reveals Amazon is experimenting with personalised video adverts featuring products the ecommerce giant has detected user interest in. Amazon regularly displays customised static ads on third-party sites, but the videos have the potential to be more eye-catching and appear in more places. One expert said the idea had potential but Amazon would have to be careful that its ads did not seem creepy. Continue reading…
eBay Connect Manchester – 10th August 2016: Chris Dawson at Tamebay reports that eBay Connect, an exclusive conference for eBay UK business sellers will be held in Manchester on the 10 August this year. Dan and Chris have frequently said eBay need to hold events for their seller partners.
