Amazon preparing to deliver fresh food in Berlin: Reuters via Fortune reports that according to a magazine article Amazon plans to start the delivery of fresh food in Berlin within the next few months. Germany is Amazon’s second-biggest market outside the United States and the company plans to work with 15 partners to start delivery of fresh food in the German capital this autumn/fall. eBay to take on Amazon Prime with Fast & Free: Dan Wilson at Tamebay reports that eBay is looking at introducing a three-day delivery option in the US called Fast & Free. The change will not immediately affect UK sellers. Wall Street analyst Mark May said, eBay “believes 3-day shipping is the threshold for acceptable delivery and notes that a substantial share of packages already meets this criteria, with 67% of their packages shipped during the holiday season having been delivered in 3 days or less.” Continue reading…
eBay’s ‘world first’ VR department store lets you eye before you buy: Claire Reilly at CNET reports that eBay is jumping on the virtual reality bandwagon with the launch of what it claims is the “world’s first” VR shopping app. eBay has partnered with Australian department store Myer for the launch, offering 12,500 products that shoppers can browse through, select and add to their cart just by moving their head. Netflix and Amazon must guarantee 20% of content is European: Mark Sweney at The Guardian reports that as a result of new broadcasting rules unveiled by the European Commission, Netflix and Amazon’s European operations will have to guarantee to that at least 20% of video content in their catalogue is from Europe.
