How to Succeed on Amazon

Succeed on Amazon by building upon the core activities

At RepricerExpress, we’re big believers that it’s more than possible to carve out a niche for yourself amid the hugeness of Amazon, as the most successful FBA and third-party merchants have done so and are continuing to do so. But how does that happen? Apart from providing excellent customer service, how do you go from being a cog in a wheel to a name everyone recognises? After digging and sorting through everything on Amazon, we’ve uncovered a few tips that will show you how to succeed on Amazon. Read on to find out more.

1. Have the Best Darn Keywords Possible

We’ve blogged about this many times, but keywords are the first and most important thing you should be looking at. If you’ve ever taken public transit before or used Google Maps, you already understand the importance of each providing you with just the words necessary to get from Point A to Point B. Those two examples know that it’s not only useless to burden you with paragraphs of irrelevant information, and the smartest way is to just give you what you need.

Now, before you think all that’s required is to slap on the same keywords to all goods and call it a day, there are some things to keep in mind, particularly when it comes to soft goods versus hard goods.

  • Soft goods: [fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][Brand name]+[Product Title]+[Material]+[Colour]+[Size]+[Quantity]
  • Hard goods: [Brand]+[Series]+[Model]+[Product]+([Measurements], [Colour], [Quality])

Keep to this formula, and you’ll be golden.

2. Expand Your Keywords into Search Terms

Once you’ve titled your products, you need to draw a digital map so buyers can arrive at your site and not someone else’s. Because wouldn’t that be the worst, if you put all this time and energy into make your site as awesome as possible but your competitors had better search terms than yours?

The neat thing about Amazon is besides your keywords, you get a bonus five terms that you don’t have to use in the title so use these wisely. The key thing to remember is these extra five words won’t appear in your title, but are used in the search process itself. So what you want to do is guide your buyer as accurately as possible to your site.

Imagine if you were in your consumer’s shoes and Google searching for World War Two helmets. Your search terms would be pretty basic, like “M1 helmet”, “combat helmet” or “army field helmet”, and not “brass hat” or “tin head topper”. The latter just make no sense at all when it comes to searching, so why go down that route yourself?

3. Capitalise on Fulfillment by Amazon

The goal of every ecommerce retailer is to process transactions as quickly and efficiently as possible. If you’re spending a week on a fifty transactions, you’re taking way too long and losing out on valuable business. But if you can do 1,000 transactions in that same weekly period, you’re off to the races.

But…how can you adjust to a heavier workload and all the logistics that come along with it? Instead of worrying about the inventory, packaging, shipping and customer service, leave it in Amazon’s capable hands with Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA). Plus, when you use FBA, you also stand a much better chance at upping your product listing visibility and inching ever closer to that coveted Buy Box.

Another valuable tip we wanted to share that is crucial to getting your products found on Amazon is repricing your wares consistently and regularly. Just like taking on a heavier workload, repricing manually is something that takes needless time and can easily be done by software, such as RepricerExpress. We have a 15-day free trial you can test out to see just how much easier your life and work can be.
