How to Use Clearance Lines to Boost Amazon Q4 Profits

If you don’t already understand the power of scanning the clearance items in major retail stores, well then.  Stores like Target, Kohls, WalMart, Walgreens, Kmart, Sears and Rite Aid as well as clearance sections from others like Tuesday Morning, Bed Bath and Beyond and Toys R Us are starting to fill up with last year’s items they are getting rid of for shelf space in time for the holiday buying season.  For us resellers, we don’t care about them being last year’s models because even last year’s items sell on Amazon at high rates!

Same thing goes for online clearance sections.  They are filling up with everything including toys, kitchen items and lawn/garden items in particular which still sell well during Christmas time.  Using Ebates + Online coupon codes will usually save you at least 15-20% on most stores online if not more.

 

Reprice for Q4

So, it’s October and the current Prime price on Amazon for one of your newly sourced items (lets say a well ranked kids drum toy) is $20 sold by Amazon and you purchased it for $7.99.  Its a Fisher Price toy and looking at CamelCamelCamel you can see this same item was selling for $39.95 when Amazon sold out of it last year around Black Friday.  Why try to beat Amazon right now and only make $2 when you can simply set your Repricer settings to a min of $39.95 and max of $49.95 to cover a higher range in case the lowest FBA is slightly higher this year.  Just make sure you make your settings to be the 2nd lowest FBA price to follow the trends for this new year.

If you don’t see any sales come Q4 buying time, check back in and see what the other sellers are pricing at.  Maybe Amazon is still in stock or maybe there are some lowballers just looking to get out.  Examine each case separately to make your repricing change decisions.

 

Make Some Real $$

If you can’t comb the clearance aisles and evaluate the potential profits then you probably need to just take it slower or get someone else to help you in your evaluations.  There is easy money to be made if you just follow the scanning app data and rankings lists to determine if an item is an easy sale or not.

Using a repricer automates your pricing and takes the stress of worrying about manually tracking each item.  Believe me, once your inventory begins to pile up you will need a repricer in your business to make money more effectively.
